Instructor – Haley Wilde
A multi-sport athlete throughout her youth, Haley Wilde has long been steeped in the endurance, competitive, and team-building side of fitness. As an adult, she began to realize how much was missing from what she’d learned about fitness as a kid. The lack of education in flexibility, nutrition, injury prevention, stability training, and mind-body connection kept her from developing a well-balanced fitness routine.
It also became clear that fitness settings are not always welcoming environments for people of all body shapes, sizes, genders, ability levels, sexualities, and races. Being a passionate athlete but also someone who has struggled with what can often be an intimidating and discouraging mainstream fitness culture propelled Haley into the profession of personal training and fitness instruction. She received her Certificate in Personal Training through the Fitness Technology program at Portland Community College, and is a certified Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine. Throughout and beyond her formal education at PCC, she has been passionate about learning as much as possible about what it means to be a body-positive, queer-positive, and fat-positive fitness professional. She is a dedicated bicycle commuter on any day of the year and in any type of weather, but still eagerly awaits summer’s motorcycle weather.
