The Self-Care Sanctuary is an afternoon mini-retreat designed to relax and revitalize you. Each participant will receive a personal “Healing Ally” gift box consisting of a therapeutic essential oil blend, a small crystal, and a custom recipe for sustaining health and well-being.

In this mini retreat, you will learn and experience ways to:

  • Find deeper levels of relaxation
  • Trust and listen to your intuition
  • Decrease tension and increase ease
  • Be more aware of your body and what it needs
  • Feel better and more aligned with your potential for greater mind/body/spirit/energetic health

The workshop will include the following practices:

Restorative and Yin Yoga

  • Feel deeper levels of opening with supported and/or longer held postures
  • Decrease stress with a slow moving, mindful yoga practice

Guided Meditation and Mindfulness Practices

  • Deepen your mind-body and energetic-spiritual connection
  • Restore health and well-being


  • Explore a Japanese healing technique to help balance, brighten, and increase your energy
  • Discover your own capacity for energetic healing, including reading and caring for your energetic boundaries
  • Identify your personal allies in healing

Instructor — Ariel Hart

Ariel Hart

Ariel Hart is a former L.A./Seattle-based healer and artist who has recently returned to her magical roots here in Portland. She is a certified yoga instructor (2007, Yoga Union) and a Reiki Master (2012, Northwest Healing Studio) and integrates the two practices to attain deeper levels of healing.

Ariel offers weekly classes, workshops, and private sessions that may incorporate a variety of therapeutic tools, such as Reiki (energy healing), sound therapy, essential oil or herbal clearings, and charged stones/crystals. Ariel is passionate about sharing energy work and is the co-founder of “U:nite” a not for profit group in Seattle that hosted public alternative healing events.

Instructor — Denise Gour

Denise Gour

Denise Gour’s therapeutic focus helps people reduce their stress and learn to navigate adversity with more self-compassion, clarity, and ease. She has over 15 years of experience working in Portland with adults and families facing complex issues related to parenting, family and relationships, adult children of impaired parents, recovery from addictions, aging, grief and loss, career shifts, physical injury and illness, and the associated symptoms of depression and anxiety. She also offers presentations and trainings for health care providers, schools, and businesses interested in using mindfulness and stress reduction skills in the workplace.

Denise completed her Mindfulness Based Professional Training with MBSR founder Jon Kabat-Zinn. She has also trained with the researchers who developed Mindfulness Based programs for addiction and depression counseling. As a licensed clinical social worker and certified yoga instructor, she offers a richly integrated approach to teaching stress reduction.

She is deeply inspired by the courage and perseverance shown by the wonderful people she is privileged to work with. She finds purpose and connection in life by joining with all who are willing to face life’s challenges with a compassionate heart and the abiding strength of a good sense of humor.
