Itinerary

DAY ONE: Welcome to San Sebastián

Settle in at the Arima Hotel & Spa, a sustainable, eco-luxury retreat center located close to the Miramon Forest.  Take some time to unwind and rest after your travels, perhaps with a visit to the spa or a quiet walk in nature. We will have a late afternoon yoga class.

In the evening, we’ll come together for a relaxed welcome dinner at the hotel, enjoying  Basque-inspired dishes that offer a taste of what’s to come in the days ahead.

FYI:  One group transport from the Bilbao Airport (BIO) to Arima will be set up.  We will time the group transport to best match the arrival times of the people in our group.  Travel time from the airport to the hotel is approximately 1-1.5 hours.

Meals: welcome dinner is included.

DAY TWO:  Pintxos and Walking Tour in San Sebastián

Start your day with a morning yoga class and a healthy breakfast at Amira.

Later, we’ll meet our local guide and take a short ride to San Sebastián’s Old Town for a walking tour.

“Txikiteo,” or pintxo hopping, is a beloved tradition in San Sebastián. Day and night, the city comes alive as friends, families, and visitors wander from bar to bar, sampling small bites and sipping local beverages including wines or ciders.

In the heart of Parte Vieja (Old Town), narrow stone streets overflow with energy, conversation, and the mouthwatering smells of Basque cooking. Each pintxo bar has its own specialties, colorful plates of seafood, meats, peppers, cheeses, and creative pairings that reflect the region’s deep culinary pride.

After the walking and eating tour we’ll head back to the hotel.  Or if you want to stay in town you can take a bus (15 minute ride) or a taxi back. The rest of the day and evening are yours to do what you like.

Meals: breakfast at the hotel and lunch (pintxo tasting) included.  Dinner on your own.

DAY THREE: E-bike Tour along La Concha Beach

Start your morning with yoga and breakfast at the hotel.

Then we’ll set out on a scenic e-bike ride along San Sebastián’s famous La Concha Beach. This guided ride offers beautiful coastal views and a fun, active way to experience the city’s charming neighborhoods and local landmarks.

After the ride, we’ll return to the hotel for some well-deserved downtime.

Dinner is on your own this evening, giving you the chance to enjoy San Sebastián’s celebrated dining scene from its impressive collection of Michelin-starred restaurants to the many casual pintxo bars and seaside cafés where locals gather to eat, sip, and connect.

Meals: breakfast included. Lunch and Dinner on your own.

DAY FOUR: Leisure Day

Today is set aside for you to make your own choices . Whether that means a quieter day at the hotel or a full day of exploration. The day is yours to spend however you like.

There will be a mid-morning yoga class.  After that, you might choose to enjoy the spa or pool, or venture out to discover more of San Sebastián and the surrounding area .  Have a beach day, browse a local market, hike a nearby trail, or linger over a long, relaxed meal at a café.

Meals: breakfast included. Lunch and Dinner on your own.

DAY FIVE:  San Juan de Gaztelugatxe Hike and Visit to see Guernica

After breakfast, we’ll head out on a private transfer to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, an islet connected to the mainland by a winding stone bridge. We’ll take in the coastal views as we make our way up the 241 steps to the small hilltop hermitage, a  spot made famous by its appearance in Game of Thrones.

Following the hike, we’ll have lunch at a local restaurant, featuring traditional Basque flavors and regional specialties.

On our trip back, we’ll stop to visit Guernica, a town rich with history and resilience, and Getaria, a charming fishing village known for its fresh seafood, coastal views, and relaxed pace.

We’ll return to the hotel later in the day and dinner will be on your own .

Meals: breakfast and lunch included. Dinner on your own.

DAY SIX: Txakoli Winery & Farewell Dinner

We’ll have the morning for a leisurely breakfast and a yoga practice, before heading out on a private transfer to a family run  winery. Nestled in the rolling hills of the Basque countryside, this beautiful estate produces Txakoli, a light, slightly sparkling white wine unique to the region.

We’ll have a guided tour of the vineyards and cellar, learn about the winemaking process, and sample a flight of Txakoli wines paired with local Basque pintxos and tapas.

In the evening, we’ll celebrate our time together in San Sebastián with a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
