Restorative Yoga & Live Cello- A Practice of Soft Expansion

May 4, 2026

by Lana Vilches

Spring reminds us that growth does not have to be forceful.

It can be gentle.
It can be quiet.

It can unfold in softness, in breath, in stillness, and in the quiet space where something new begins to emerge within us.
This offering is an invitation into that kind of unfolding.

When restorative yoga meets the rich, soulful resonance of live cello, something deeply nourishing happens. The body begins to soften. The breath deepens. The nervous system settles. Space opens, not because we pushed for it, but because we allowed it.

In a world that often asks us to keep moving, producing, and holding it all together, this practice offers something different. A chance to rest. A chance to receive. A chance to gently return to yourself.

The Collaboration

This practice brings together two healing arts, movement and sound, guided by Lana Vilches and Elizabeth Byrd.

Lana has been teaching yoga for over a decade, with a deep belief in the quiet transformation that happens when we slow down enough to listen inward. Her teaching invites softness, presence, and a remembering that there is already wisdom, wholeness, and home within us.

Joining her is Elizabeth Byrd, a classically trained cellist from The Juilliard School whose music carries warmth, depth, and profound intention. For over twenty years, Elizabeth has offered healing cello sessions in hospitals, hospice settings, and wellness spaces, bringing sound as medicine, comfort, and connection.

Her cello is more than music in the background. It becomes part of the experience itself, a living vibration that moves gently through the room, meeting each person exactly where they are.

What to Expect

This is a space to land softly.

You will be supported in restful postures using bolsters, blankets, and props that invite the body into deep ease. Poses are held for several minutes, allowing time for the body to settle, the breath to lengthen, and the mind to quiet.

As you rest, the cello fills the room with warm, grounding sound, like a gentle current moving through you. You may feel it in your chest, in your belly, along your spine, or simply as a soft settling within.

There is nothing to strive for here. Nothing to achieve. Only space to soften into what is.

Bring cozy layers, your favorite blanket, or anything that helps you feel nurtured. Comfort is part of the practice.

The Heart of the Offering

Spring teaches us that renewal begins in stillness.

Before blossoms bloom, roots deepen. Before growth becomes visible, something quiet is happening beneath the surface.

Rest works the same way.

When we allow ourselves to truly slow down, the nervous system remembers safety. The body remembers balance and the heart has room to open again.

And in community, that softening becomes even more powerful.

There is something deeply healing about resting together, breathing together, and creating collective space for gentleness in a world that often feels harsh.

A Gentle Invitation

Come as you are, tired or tender. Hopeful or heavy.
Blooming or still becoming.

This practice meets you there. Together, we will create space for rest, renewal, and soft expansion, allowing ourselves to open, slowly and naturally, toward whatever is ready to bloom.

Thank you! – Lana
