Join Sellwood Yoga and Wet Planet Whitewater for a eight-mile trip down the wild and scenic White Salmon River. Perfect for beginners and advanced rafters, the river’s a class III-IV. Designated for protection under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, the White Salmon is a breathtaking combination of whitewater and scenery. Fed by natural springs flowing from the glaciers of Mt. Adams, the White Salmon cascades through narrow, cliff lined basalt canyons before heading out into the warm sunshine of a forested valley.
The undeveloped shoreline and inaccessible deep forests invite wildlife to visit the refreshing river, a sight only experienced by rafters and kayakers. Whitewater river rafting on the White Salmon River epitomizes the lush and wild character of the Pacific Northwest in one exciting raft trip.
Wet Planet’s Private Put-In: When water levels are lower, Wet Planet launches their White Salmon river trips from their private upstream put-in. This exclusive access to “the Upper,” 2 miles upstream from the standard public launch site, adds numerous challenging class III/IV rapids and some of the most amazing canyon scenery on the river. An optional cliff jump at the base of BZ Falls adds to the adventure before you even pass the public access point.
No previous rafting experience is necessary–you’ll have a blast whether you are new to rafting or a seasoned expert.
Logistics: Wet Planet is about 1.5 hours from Portland (directions here). The July 21 trip starts promptly at 2pm and the August 19 trip begins at 1:30pm. Remember to arrive at least 15 minutes before the trip starts. If you are late, you risk missing the trip. Upon arrival, please head to the check-in area. Our Wet Planet guides will gather our group together for a pre-trip orientation.
If you need a ride from Sellwood Yoga to Wet Planet please let us know in advance by emailing email@example.com and we will help to get you into a carpool. Wet Planet has a great cafe (check out the menu!) If you want to go early, you have time to eat before we put on the river. You can also enjoy a cool beverage and bite to eat after the trips ends.
Wet Planet is close to both White Salmon, WA and Hood River, OR. There are numerous hotel and B&B options in and around both towns. You can also check out some lodging suggestions here.
