Maria seamlessly melds her two professions of yoga teaching and psychotherapy to present a rich array of yogic material in a fresh and engaging way. All levels of yoga experience are warmly welcome; all you need is curiosity and a willingness to grow. Instructor — Maria Williquette
Maria Williquette is a yoga teacher and psychotherapist licensed in both WA and OR. She has been teaching yoga with an emphasis on using yoga therapeutically for over 10 years, and she frequently teaches workshops, yoga teacher training, and retreats focused on the deeper aspects of yoga.
Maria has been traveling to India for years and her time there (and Nepal and Sri Lanka) has profundly deepened her practice and understanding of yoga. Maria has completed two 200-hour yoga teacher trainings, a 300 hour advanced yoga teacher training, and she has extensive ongoing education about the philosophy and psychology of yoga. Maria holds a Master’s Degree in counseling psychology and has a private practice in Sellwood. It is her passion to combine the wisdom of yoga with the study of psychology to create a therapeutic and deeply healing yoga practice.
As a teacher, Maria embodies depth and connection, joy and creativity. She will certainly arrive to class with a smile, and she delights in connecting with every student who attends class with her. Both on and off the mat, Maria looks to each moment of each day for opportunities to learn and to practice gratitude. Maria is also a mom of two little kiddos, and an avid gardener and a voracious consumer of books.
