I deeply and dearly love Family Yoga! My kiddos and I attended our first Family Yoga class at Sellwood Yoga in 2019. It was in that first class that I came to understand how special and unique this time together was for families. My kids and I are thrilled that Family Yoga continues to be a big part of our lives and that we can offer this magical time of connection to other families in this community.
Family Yoga is a really fun and inclusive class designed for parents, siblings, grandparents, caregivers and children. Classes will incorporate yoga basics and movement through games, songs, partner poses and storytelling. Family Yoga is a great way to introduce kids to the benefits of yoga including focus, coordination and wellbeing.
Outside of the yoga studio, I am a therapist who works primarily with youth and parents. In each Family Yoga class I will weave in strategies to help youth build emotional regulation, increase emotional vocabulary and build self-awareness. My goal is to create a positive and supportive space where families can bond and connect through movement, mindfulness and relaxation. Together we will practice meditation, grounding techniques and a variety of breathing exercises.
I have loved spending quality time and getting to know the families that regularly attend Family Yoga. River, Rocky and I hope to see you all soon
All my love,
Renèe
“I’ve really enjoyed taking Renee’s sweet classes with my 8 and 3 year old kids. She teaches important skills like self-regulation through breathwork, basic yoga poses, and mixes it up so the demands are never too great for the kids. There’s time for big movements, being silly, and also learning. She’s an inspiring and gifted teacher, and the class is fun for the grown ups too.”

“Family Yoga with Renee has been the perfect balance of fun and relaxation. Our kids not only enjoy learning yoga in a playful, engaging way, but they’ve also gained emotional regulation skills they can use beyond class. I highly recommend it for children of all ages and it’s just as beneficial for parents to have a moment to take a deep exhale.”
