Join Maria for a special 2.5 hour practice that creates space for a deeper yoga investigation than normal class time allows. Enjoy spacious meditation and breath practices, inquiry into yogic philosophy and spirituality, and a thoughtful asana practice designed to nourish the body and calm the nervous system. This class is perfect for all who are seeking more depth and awareness in their yoga practice. There will be something for everyone: from long term practitioner to brand new beginner.

Instructor — Maria Williquette

Maria Williquette is a yoga teacher and psychotherapist who has just relocated to Portland from Seattle. She has been teaching yoga with an emphasis on using yoga therapeutically for 9 years and she frequently teaches workshops about using yoga as a tool for healing. Maria also leads 3 yoga retreats annually, 2 in the Pacific Northwest and a 10 day yoga retreat in beautiful Goa, India.

Although more days than not Maria can be found practicing and teaching yoga, she is also an avid gardener, reader, hiker, and world traveler. While traveling, Maria has studied yoga in places as diverse as Argentina, South Africa, India, and Nepal and has completed two 200 hr yoga teacher trainings and extensive ongoing education (currently enrolled in a 500 hr training). Maria holds a Master’s Degree in counseling psychology and had a private practice in Seattle. Now she is taking some time off from therapy to enjoy being a new mom! It is Maria’s passion to combine the wisdom of yoga with the study of psychology to create a therapeutic and deeply healing yoga practice.

As a teacher, Maria embodies depth and connection; joy and creativity. She will certainly arrive to class with a smile and she delights in connecting with every student who attends class with her. Both on and off the mat, Maria looks to each moment of each day for opportunities to learn and to practice gratitude.
