Show your support for our current teachers-in-training! We will be offering donation-based classes taught by this year’s talented group on select Mondays, Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays throughout February. Styles and times vary–we have something for every schedule. Please check our online schedule and look for the words “donation-based” in the class title to learn more about specific dates, times, and teachers.
This year, donations will benefit Moreland Farmers Market’s hunger reduction and nutrition education programs. You can bring cash or checks to the studio (suggested donation is $5-$10)
The Moreland Farmers Market (MFM) is more than just a great place to buy produce and support local businesses. It also supports our community through three hunger reduction and nutrition education programs. MFM offers up to $5 in matching funds to low-income individuals who use their food stamps or cash assistance benefits to shop at the market. It runs the only senior nutrition program in Oregon providing $5 each week to low-income seniors along with nutritional education. Finally our popular kids program, Power of Produce, provides food and farming information along with nutritional education. Participating kids receive $2 in tokens to spend on their own fruits or veggies! We can provide tokens to 25 kids each week while many more partake in fun, educational activities designed to make them wiser, healthier consumers. Last year, these programs put $11,000 dollars in the hands of community members and served 22% of market-goers. Through the investment of these programs today, Moreland Farmers Market supports a healthier community tomorrow.
