Celebrating 10 Years of Yoga in the Pines

Jan 26, 2026

By Bill Wyland

Held at the acclaimed Five Pine Lodge is Sisters Oregon, Yoga in the Pines is an annual Yoga Retreat that began in 2016. It’s easy to remember the year as my youngest daughter Lily was just 1 year old.

Every year, we look forward to going. It’s as much of a family tradition as it is a Yoga Retreat.

Here are the some of the main reasons why we love going every year.

One – The Five Pine Lodge & Cabins

Modern Accommodations Meets Craftsman Architecture

Main Lodge:

The 1905 Forestry Station inspired Main Lodge complete with 26 foot large rock fireplace is a PNW lodge style architecture classic. The central base for the retreat, the Main Lodge makes it feel like you’ve stepped into a timeless resort in the mountains.

A relaxing lounge surrounds the fireplace. The lounge also hosts the complimentary nightly wine reception where everyone gathers after the days last yoga class and before people head out to dinner.

The lodge also has great room accommodations that are really nice options if you like staying in the main lodge or you need a little less space than a cabin or need more space with a group of friends or family.

Signature Cabins:

Nestled discreetly into the surrounding pine forest, the Five Pine cabins are beautiful, private, and serene. They range from the classic Cabin, Caboose Cabin with an extra twin bed to luxurious Serenity & Romance Cabins. They all blend in beautifully into the forest and are modern and cozy.

Because we come as a family we almost always stay in a caboose cabin but we have stayed in the other Cabins (except the Romance ones of course because of family ;)) as well as the lodge rooms. They are all unique experiences and you can’t go wrong with any of them.

Two – Five Pine Campus

The Main Lodge and Cabins are all within easy walking distance to the following:

Shibui Spa – Beautiful and relaxing Japanese Style Inspired Spa featuring Thermal Soaking Tub, massages, facials and more. A must visit. Insider Tip: Plan ahead and make a reservation before the retreat.

Sisters Movie House – The Independent Movie House modeled after local area agriculture buildings features 4 screens of independent, first run, documentary and foreign films. Fun place

Sisters Athletic Club – Full access to the Sisters Athletic Club is included with the retreat .A fun place to talk with the locals and take a fitness class, use the weight room, cardio equipment, and swimming pool. Insider tip- There’s an outdoor hot tub next to the swimming pool and the changing rooms have steam rooms.

Pederson Trailhead System – The trail system borders the westside of the Five Pine Campus and runs all the way up to Suttle Lake and elsewhere!  You can set out on a hike or weather permitting snow shoe adventure from Five Pine. Insider Tip – You can easily walk into the town of Sisters on the trail. Signs are well marked.

Three – Sisters

The 1880’s Western Frontier-Themed architecture of the buildings in downtown Sisters gives you the feeling as if you found the small outpost town in the High Desert of Central Oregon. The town has everything you need for the next few days and more.

The following places are all great options for Food & Beverage:

The Barn- Tap House and Community Hub features a great mix of local food carts – Farm to Table, Pizza, Mediterranean, Vegan & Mexican food.

High Camp Taphouse – Himalayan restaurant located next to the 76 Gas station at the roundabout. Not only delicious food but helps children in Nepal access schooling with a portion of the profits.

Sisters Bakery – The award winning “Best Sourdough Sliced Bread” voted by me, and given lifetime award status can be found here. Everything else is great too.

Sisters Coffee House – The original location in the Log Cabin Cafe. Fireside seating and delicious coffee and pastries.

The Open Door – Oregon Farm to Table in a house with an art gallery located inside too. More on the “finer” dining side at dinner with entrees but exceptional food with healthy ingredients.

Four – Winter Activities

In addition to the Pederson Ridge Trail system that boarders the Five Pine Campus and town of Sisters you can get to then following places and activities within a short drive.

Black Butte Ranch

Suttle Lake Lodge

Mount Bachelor

Hoo Doo Ski and Snow Park

The Pavillion – Bend outdoor covered ice skate rink.

Metolius River

Five – The Yoga Retreat

Yoga in the Pines is a mini retreat (4 days and 3 nights) so it’s not the typical full length of a one week yoga retreat.  It’s just enough time that you feel like you’re ready to go at the end but you wish you had one more day.

We provide the structure of the daily yoga classes but really other than that the time is yours. You can do whatever you feel like doing. There are people who come every year or almost every year and always new people from all over the country. If you come by yourself, you will have plenty of new friends to do things with for company as well.

If you feel like getting away for a few days of R&R in Sisters at the end of the February, we’d love to see you there!
